Stuntkid: Jason Levesque

jl1.jpg

Jason Levesque is an incredibly talented “self-taught” artist and designer from Chesapeake, Va. His work succeeds in capturing the many facets of the female personality and form, through different medias: be it taking photographs, using computer software, sketching with a pencil or encompassing all. Though to some, Levesque’s lush female subjects could be considered somewhat risqué . However, Jason’s work is rather like pinup illustrations from the 50s; his work doesn’t contain anything vulgar, they’re just darn right “sexy”. Other than the most obvious “sexalicious” attributes, his art may evoke humor and glamor, or even eroticism? Maybe they are funky, disturbing or nonchalant? Whatever they convey to you, we are all aware (or should be) of how one illustration triggers a chain of associations which eventually seem quite removed from the initial meaning: sexy. So, for the sake of argument lets just see them for what they are: innocent “consensual acts”. more…

The Learn List: Ultimate Resource For Designers

thelearnlist.jpeg

Do you need to find photoshop tutorial? How about an Illustrator, flash, dreamweaver, actionscript, xml, css or even a php tutorial? Well, look no further than the learn list. This is a super simple resource that aims to gather the best tutorial and book links from all over the web. The website was created by UK designer Chris Robinson at Crobbo.com. The lists of available online tutorial links are growing fast, and will in my humble opinion be the ultimate stop-off site for excellent tutorials online. Be sure to post them an amazing link if you know of any tutorials not listed.

Amazing Anime Html Drawing

While some anime is hand drawn, computer assisted animation techniques have become quite common in recent years. However, this anime character is uniquely hard-coded by a talented (name unknown) coder/illustrator, using just html code. It’s amazing how much markup is actually used for just one small figure. I would imagine a mock-up drawing of the figure would be initially used, and then maybe notepad html editing software is used to generate the code. Click the link to take a look at he final result. Nik Ainley’s Portfolio: Shinybinary

Cute_by_Shinybinary.jpg

Cute

Shinybinary is the online art and design portfolio of Nik Ainley a web-designer from the UK, who has truly mastered the art of digital manipulation and ornate typographic compilations. He combines illustration, design, typography, and 3D graphics to create some elaborate, sometimes violently graphic, images in the all so popular Adobe Photoshop. Occasionally, Ainley will supplement his creations with Illustrator and some of the 3D authoring suites. The results of his work are often quite stunning like the the piece shown above - an image produced for Unicef on the theme of child soldiers. Although a wide range of styles is presented at shinybinary, each piece shows a meticulous attention detail which attracts me to pieces. Incidentally, Ainley’s attraction lies in the work of vault49, as well as fellow members of the depthCORE digital arts community .

Ainley has plans to develop his website over the next year into something “bigger and shinier”. Be sure to check out shinybinary.com, and if you like his work, you can purchase prints on his deviantART page. Here’s a selection of [24] nik’s awe-inspiring styles, after the jump. more…

COLOURlovers :: fight for love in the color revolution

Colors found in nature are often less saturated and more pleasing to the eye than their artificial counterparts. As a result, they allow users to focus on interactions, and not be distracted by overly bright hues. One particular site to find amazing colors in nature, by using nature to build the perfect color palette is COLOURlovers - a community website based on the world of color. Recently they listed some gorgeous butterfly color palettes, featuring the color combinations of 18 different butterflies. Any of these color combinations could be used for interior decor or a website. Here’s 2 sample butterfly palettes, be sure to check out the rest.
