d’Holbachie Yoko: CG Illustrator

Japanese artist d’Holbachie Yoko creates some outstanding candy-colored fantasy illustrations that make you just want to smile. Yoko’s colorful visual universe started in graphic design, while later she became a freelance illustrator creating the most outlandish, whimsical, cute, bold, psychedelic, and most colorfully enriched creatures. d’Holbachie is a fine example of someone who can use color to its maximum capacity, without overworking the digital canvas, or killing the visual experience in any way. If your a color lover, like me; you’ll be inspired and entranced by her multi-pallet experience.

Currently, Yoko works on a multitude of projects as 3-D CG illustrator for video game design and development, advertisements, books and a whole host of magazines. Oddly enough, I can’t seem to find much reference to interviews with d’holbachie, so if anyone out there knows of any drop me a line and i’ll add the link here. Don’t forget to check her “cosmos” site, and of course: Pekapoo Pecanpie - this is lovely whimsical art work. Without further ado, take a journey into Yoko’s colorful universe; be inspired with a smile. more…

The universe is beige

cosmiclatteCosmic Latte is the color of the universe, according to a team of astronomers from Johns Hopkins University. In 2001, Karl Glazebrook and Ivan Baldry determined that the color of the universe was a greenish white, but they soon corrected their analysis in “The 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey: constraints on cosmic star-formation history from the cosmic spectrum”, published in 2002. In this paper, they reported that their survey of the color of all light in the universe added up to a slightly beige white. The survey included more than 200,000 galaxies, and measured the spectral range of the light from a large volume of the universe. The hexadecimal RGB value for Cosmic Latte is #FFF8E7.
