Kris Kuski’s Grotesque Series

“Original Sin” | 14″ x 18 ” | Mixed Media | 2007
Welcome my son, welcome to the machine. What did you dream? It’s alright we told you what to dream. -
Welcome to the Machine (Waters)
One of the integral and original voices in the rapidly emerging artistic movement entitled: Fantastic Realism is the Missouri born, award-winning artist Kris Kuksi. The art of Kris Kuksi includes paintings, drawings, sculptures, murals, illustrations and portraits. Drawing upon these medias to create his 3-d pieces, Kuksi sculpts beautiful representation of our deepest fears, that which society is reluctant to address in this age of political correctness. All his work, however, and especially the “grotesque” series (pictured) contains fine intricacies, bridging the gap between human psychology and demonic fantasy, causing one to become entranced within the layers upon layers of meticulously defined detail.
His inspiration is multi layered too, drawing upon politics, war, famine and discrimination, along with a plethora of unnoticed beauty that is brought to our attention. Yet what’s more defining in kuski’s work, is the brutel honesty and rawness of it; revealing the illusion or “mind set” we create through fear in our minds, in a popular culture so riddled with “self-indulgence”, “self-escapism”, and “shallow-heartedness”. In short, Kuski work exposes the truth.
